Sylvia Bray is first and foremost the mother of two fine young men. In 2005, she married Mark Winegarden who was also the father of two. Their own little version of the brady bunch now had three boys all tormenting the only other young lady in the house. Once the eldest two moved out to start their own families, marks’ mother moved in with them due to health concerns. No description of the family would be complete however without mentioning the constant presence and ever changing population of family pets. The most predominant and loved by all is their loyal companion “bandit.” Bandit is a spoodle (a cross between a springer spaniel and a poodle) and can be found and heard daily at the offices of H.E. Carpet and Flooring where he lies curled up at Sylvia’s feet. Sylvia moved to Wasaga Beach in 2003 with an extensive background in marketing, sales, public relations and information technology having spent fifteen-plus years working with a large multinational corporation and five years building and managing her own small business. In 2008, she was able to purchase an existing business, “Baymark Holdings Inc.” Sylvia was no stranger to the business, as it was launched in 2005 by her husband Mark and a partner. Under her leadership, Baymark has grown and diversified to include four active businesses. One of those businesses, “Grandmas Beach Treats” was selected as the 2009 business of the year in Wasaga Beach. Sylvia is a member of the wasaga beach women’s business association and sits as a Director on the Board of the Chamber of Commerce. She is also a very proud member of the Wasaga Beach Rotary Club. Rotarians share many of the same core beliefs that guide her and her family in their business and personal lives. Stop in at 1014 mosley street anytime. There is a good chance that the warm welcome and the genuine smile you are greeted with will be from Sylvia herself. There is no better way to ensure the long term success of a business.

Baymark Holdings Inc.

Located at 1014 Mosley Street in Wasaga Beach Ontario. Baymark is owned and operated by Sylvia Bray. The building at Mosley and 22nd Street had been owned by Hans and Elizabeth Omen for over 20 years.  The Omens moved to Wasag Beach to work in the Bakery which was the original use of the building. With lots of hard work and a little lottery luck, the Omens eventually purchased the building and decided to change it from a bakery into a flooring store. The next change came when they decided to downsize the store and break the unit into two. The front unit was then occupied by a lawyer in town. Mark Winegarden and a friend then formed a partnership and purchased the building. Mark had worked as a Paramedic in Simcoe County for several years and had noticed the for sale by owner sign in the window of the store for many months. Shortly after taking over the property, the lawyer no longer needed the space and a decision was made to launch a new business. Grandmas Beach Treats has since become one of Wasaga's most popular destinations for those seeking a delightfull treat.

In 2008 a few more changes were underway. Marks wife Sylvia purchased the shares in the company and took over all aspects of running the business. The original plans of running the store as a business to supplement their income was quashed when Mark broke his back in the line of duty and was left permanently disabled. After 2 years, Mark was fired by the County of Simcoe and the success of Baymark Holdings was now a necessity for Sylvia, not just a dream.

In a community that has such a seasonal swing, it was necessary to diversify to ensure year round stability and now all four of Baymarks divisions enjoy a solid customer base. Serving the residents and visitors to Wasaga Beach has given us great joy and we continue to find ways to support our community as it has supported us.
